Jenn’s Apartment is a Lansing, Michigan, power-pop band originally formed in 2004 by songwriter and guitarist Roy Kirby. After an initial run that saw the band release two EPs, open for notable indie acts, and record a third unreleased EP, Jenn’s Apartment split in 2007 before returning in 2014 with Kirby joined by Chris Davis on bass and Justin Pine on drums.
Since reforming, the trio has built a reputation as one of Lansing’s hardest-working bands, releasing the acclaimed Forever for the End EP, the full-length albums We’re a Small Band, 90’s School Bus, and The Bird The Bridge The Wire, along with a string of EPs including Plastic Pickles, Fatboy Forever, and the split release Oh! That’s What You Call Music?! Volume 1 with Almost Made the Mixtape. Known for blending jangly 90s guitar work, energetic drumming, layered vocals, and sharp power-pop songwriting, Jenn’s Apartment pairs upbeat, catchy hooks with lyrics that range from love and heartbreak to substance abuse, social frustration, and personal reflection.
Drawing influence from Thin Lizzy, The Police, Jawbreaker, and The Get Up Kids, the band has carved out a sound that feels equally rooted in classic power pop and emotionally charged punk, earning praise from critics and a loyal following throughout Michigan and beyond.
